Overview
The H.I.G. Capital Spring 2026 Private Equity Internship Training offers students the opportunity to experience the full lifecycle of private equity investing. Interns work alongside investment professionals to evaluate potential acquisitions, conduct financial due diligence, and assist in portfolio company performance analysis.
The program is structured around an investment team—combining research, valuation modeling, and strategic assessment. Interns develop a detailed understanding of how private equity firms identify opportunities, execute transactions, and create long-term value.

Responsibilities
Conduct company and market research to identify attractive investment opportunities
Analyze financial statements and construct detailed operating and LBO models
Evaluate transaction structures and capital deployment strategies
Prepare due diligence summaries and internal investment committee materials
Draft sections of pitch decks and investor presentations highlighting deal rationale and value creation strategies
Monitor existing portfolio companies and assist with performance tracking metrics
Collaborate with mentors on mock deal evaluations and exit strategy assessments
What We’re Looking For
We seek motivated, analytical candidates who are passionate about finance, deal-making, and value creation. Successful interns display strong quantitative skills, sound judgment, and the ability to think critically about business models.
Preferred qualifications:
Academic background in finance, economics, or accounting
Strong Excel and financial modeling capabilities
Understanding of valuation and capital structure fundamentals
Attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and ability to manage multiple workstreams
